CALA-A shocking incident has been reported in Cala, where a four-week-old baby boy was allegedly abandoned at a local garbage dump on 28 June 2025.
Fortunately, rescuers arrived on the scene and found the baby still breathing. He was immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The child protection unit of the police service has opened a case of negligence and is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the mother of the baby.
“We are shocked by this incident and we urge anyone with information to come forward,” said Captain Namhla Mdleleni.
