Eastern Cape Department of Health Debunks False Claims

MBIZANA-In response to a falsified document spreading on social media, the Eastern Cape Department of Health has launched an inquiry and dismissed claims that Oliver and Adelaide Tambo District Hospital in Mbizana is without doctors.

The Department’s spokesperson, Siyanda Manana, emphasized that the community can continue to rely on the hospital for quality healthcare services as there are currently 16 doctors on staff. He further noted that in anticipation of the facility’s future status as a regional hospital, the department has already begun recruiting additional medical officers.

The Department of Health strongly condemns the malicious document circulating on social media as it threatens to cause reputational damage to the Eastern Cape Department of Health. The Department urged the public to refrain from sharing the false information to prevent unnecessary panic and consternation.

“The Department takes this matter very seriously,” Manana said, “and we will take appropriate action against anyone found to be responsible for spreading such misinformation.”

Manana concluded by reassuring the community of Mbizana that the Department remains committed to providing quality healthcare services to all residents.
