The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) has reserved its decision on Dr. Nandipha Magudumana’s appeal to have her arrest in Tanzania declared unlawful.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) remains confident that the SCA will dismiss Magudumana’s application. The court panel questioned Magudumana’s claim that her detention in Tanzania was unlawful.
NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga stated, “We have always maintained that her deportation from Tanzania to South Africa, leading to her arrest at Lanseria Airport, was conducted smoothly and legally. The judges’ line of questioning strongly suggests a ruling in our favor. We are optimistic that the appeal will be dismissed.”
