RUGBY ACTION PACKS A PUNCH IN KEI ROAD

It was a day of thrilling rugby action in Kei Road on Saturday the 4th of May, with two matches taking place at the local grounds.

The first match saw the Black Eagles a Kei Road rugby team, take on the Sparrows from Burnshill in Keiskammahoek. The Black Eagles dominated the game, winning 23-12. Vuyisa Delekile who is the Black Eagles coach expressed his excitement “ I am thrilled that we won, it was a tough match, but we managed to come out on top”. He further explained “ the opposition team had much weight than us so I thought they would over scrum us”. He also mentioned how proud and amazed he is as one of his players scored after 5 minutes the game started.

Khayalethu Nciza who is the Sparrows coach stated how disappointed he is but optimistic, he added on saying “ We didn’t play our best rugby today, but we will learn from our mistakes and come back stronger next time.”

The second match featured the Springboks from Kei Road, facing off against Brumies a rugby team from Stutterheim. The Springboks emerged victorious with a score of 76-3. Sibabalwe Mayabo, a community member and rugby enthusiastic, attended both matches and shared his thoughts. “ I enjoyed all of the matches but the highlight for me was watching the Springboks team play and that both teams shared the same strengths.”

Both teams marked a significant milestone for the teams, and they will look to build on this momentum in their future matches.
