NDAKANA EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT INITIATIVE (NESI) CONTINUES TO EMPOWER LOCAL SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES

In a heartwarming display of community support, the Ndakana Educational Support Initiative (NESI) visited Nonyameko Primary School on May 3, 2024, bringing essential supplies and hope to struggling learners.

NESI, a non-profit organization, has been working tirelessly to support underprivileged students in the Ndakana area, where many families face significant challenges. The organization has been seeking sponsors to provide vital resources for these deserving learners.

In 2018, NESI launched its first initiative with Masimanyane High School, focusing on key areas such as improving matric results, promoting sports ambassadors, providing motivational speakers, fundraising, donating library books, awarding top achievers’ medals, and establishing a bursary fund.

Between 2018 and 2021, NESI provided motivational speakers for assembly talks and year-end events to inspire learners. In 2023, NESI expanded its support to primary schools, starting with Masiphumle Primary School, providing uniforms, shoes, toiletries, and sanitary towels.

They also built a wall and guard room, painted the school, and installed doors and locks. This year on May 3, NESI visited Nonyameko Primary School to hand over uniforms, sanitary towels, stationery, and shoes, thanks to sponsors like Sis Pinky Tsako and the Eastern Cape Gambling Board.

Lindile Yiwani, National Coordinator for NESI, highlights the organization’s successful partnerships with Mthengenya and Associates, employing five intern teachers, and Pick n Pay, providing study materials to five schools annually.

Mzwanele Nicholas Toli, the Principal of Nonyameko Primary School, expressed gratitude, stating that the donations have boosted learners’ confidence and self-esteem. “It has brought confidence to some learners, and one student in Grade 6, who previously wore torn shoes, is now mingling with his peers during break time. His self-esteem has been lifted, and he even received a tracksuit.”

Additionally, NESI awarded top achievers, encouraging them to continue excelling. Learners expressed pride and gratitude for the support.

Councillor Mooi Nqini praised NESI’s efforts, noting that they not only support schools but also the community by providing reading glasses to encourage reading.

He added, “I am delighted to acknowledge the commendable efforts of the Ndakana Educational Support Initiative (NESI), which has been instrumental in instilling hope and optimism among the underprivileged segments of our society.

Since its inception, NESI has made significant strides in contributing to the development of schools and communities, fostering an environment conducive to growth and progress.

The organization’s unwavering commitment to empowering learners and promoting education has yielded tangible results, and its initiatives have had a profound impact on the lives of numerous individuals.

I am confident that NESI’s continued endeavors will further enhance the quality of life for those in need, and I extend my sincerest appreciation for their tireless efforts.”

The Ndakana Educational Support Initiative’s efforts have brought hope and support to the Nonyameko Primary School community, demonstrating the power of collaboration and generosity in making a positive impact on the lives of young learners.
