EAST LONDON- Three individuals, Nozipho Goci(58), Siphokazi Goci(55) and Nonzame Jikityala(27) found themselves in hot water as they were arrested by the Hawks in East London on March 14, 2025.

The trio is facing serious allegations of land claim fraud dating back to the years 2017 to 2024.

This case is part of a larger investigation into fraudulent land claims that rocked the region. In 2024, the arrest of individuals including Funeka Malusi, a senior manager at the East London Department of Rural Development and Land Affairs, shed light on a scheme involving the alteration of beneficiary information and submission of false claims.

Upon their court appearance on March 17, 2025, the trio was granted bail of R10,000 each. The case has been postponed to April 10, 2025, as further investigations unfold.

In the words of the authorities, “This is a serious breach of trust and a betrayal of the community’s rights. We will leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth behind this elaborate fraud scheme.”
