Kaze looking for more, from the improved Amakhosi with 18 points to play for

Kaze was speaking to the media after their goalless draw against a stubborn Polokwane City at one of the country’s hardest playing surfaces, the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Chiefs had been on a five-game winning streak before this match, after finishing with only 32 points from 28 matches, Kaze says they’ve got loft ambitions this season.

“The improvement is obvious but we want to do better than that. We want to go higher than that and until the end of the season, we’re gonna do everything to play for those 18 points that are left to play for,” Kaze said.

Returning to the CAF Confederation Cup next season, now seems to be almost in the bag for Amakhosi, as they are seven points clear of AmaZulu, and the third spot is theirs to lose.

Reflecting on the game, Kaze says they were undone by a lack of composure in the final third.

“Every game is different, every game has its own realities and I feel like today we lacked a little bit of composure in the final third and as well in our build up to get into those positions where we could threaten the opponent goalkeeper. We need to just keep working hard and be focused on the next game,” the coach added.

Chiefs made some changes to this team, bringing back Given Msimango and giving Thabo Cele a rare start.

Kaze has more on these changes and the importance of competition as they near the end of the season.

“There are players that have a lot of great potential. Remember as well there is a big squad and I feel as well that they contributed today very well in the game and the competition is good between the players and everyone is working really hard for their chance.”
