GQEBERHA- A pregnant fast-food outlet employee was critically wounded by a drive-by shooting in Gqeberha’s Kwazakhele township. The incident occurred at a fast-food outlet in Zwide, when an unidentified male suspect opened fire through the drive-through window at approximately 11:15 pm on Friday, January 13, striking the victim in her stomach.
“We are deeply disturbed by this heinous act of violence against a defenseless pregnant woman,” said Eastern Cape South African Police Service(SAPS) spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge.
The Eastern Cape SAPS are treating the incident as an attempted murder case and have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect, who allegedly fled the scene in a white Nissan double-cab bakkie.
The motive for the attack is yet to be established. “We urge anyone with information to come forward,” Capt. Beetge appealed, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
