Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga) have officially announced the signing of Namibia international striker Peter Shalulile, bringing an end to weeks of transfer speculation.
The club confirmed the news on its social media platforms, welcoming Shalulile as one of Africa’s top strikers.
The 32-year-old joins Yanga as a free agent after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of June, bringing the curtain down on a highly successful six-year spell at Chloorkop. During his time at Sundowns, Shalulile scored 136 goals in all competitions, helping the club win multiple Betway Premiership titles, domestic cup trophies, and the CAF Champions League.
The move also reunites him with Yanga head coach Manqoba Mngqithi, who previously worked with the prolific striker at Sundowns. Mngqithi’s presence is believed to have played a key role in convincing Shalulile to choose Yanga despite interest from Simba SC, as well as clubs in Zimbabwe, Egypt, and the Middle East.
Yanga moved quickly to strengthen their attack following the departure of Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube. Shalulile is expected to lead the line as the Tanzanian champions look to defend their league title and mount another serious challenge in the CAF Champions League this season.
