Suliman Carrim Allegedly Spotted ‘Gallivanting’ While Too Ill To Testify At Madlanga Commission

It has emerged at the #MadlangaCommission that controversial North West businessman Suliman Carrim was allegedly seen at shopping malls, including Woolworths, and at entertainment venues while he was absent from the commission on the grounds of ill health.

Carrim was reportedly deemed unfit to testify again.

MDN News understands that Carrim is still supposedly receiving treatment at a facility outside of Gauteng, and his legal team is expected to submit another medical report requesting that his appearance, scheduled for Wednesday, be postponed.

But in a twist of events, the Commission was shocked to learn that Carrim has been seen gallivanting in the streets of Cape Town and even attending social events.

According to the Madlanga Commission, they have issued instructions to the stores and venues he has allegedly been visiting lately to provide information.

Carrim has already missed previous sessions due to health reasons, and the commission has warned that he could face prosecution under the Commissions Act if he refuses to undergo an independent medical examination ordered by it.

His absence comes just days after the head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Andrea Johnson, also failed to testify, becoming the ninth witness this year whose evidence has been delayed due to health reasons.

The commission has indicated that it intends to summon Carrim’s doctor and obtain information from the hospital to verify his medical condition.

Chairperson Mbuyiseli Madlanga has ruled Carrim’s postponement application will be heard on Friday.

The ruling comes after Carrim’s legal team requested that the matter be postponed until next week, arguing they were unable to take instructions from their client and had been relying on information from his doctors and family members.
