Mkhwebane, Mchunu join MK

The uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK Party) has announced Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane and Willies Mchunu as its Provincial Conveners of Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal respectively.

The two have recently left their respective parties, the Economic Freedom Fighters and the African National Congress.

This came out at the MK Party media briefing attended by its leader Jacob Zuma underway in Sandton, north of Johannesburg, on Friday.

Speaking at the briefing MKP Secretary General, Dr Sifiso Maseko says the two members have vast experience in leadership.

MK Party media briefing in Sandton:

MKP has also strongly criticised the Democratic Alliance after it distanced itself from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s comment earlier in the week at the BRICS summit that Russia is a valuable ally and friend that has supported South Africa since apartheid.

Meanwhile, the party insists that Parliament must establish an Oversight Committee to oversee the spending and performance of the Presidency.

The call for the establishment of the Portfolio Committee on the Presidency began in the Sixth Parliament and was also mooted by the recommendations of the Zondo Commission.

MK MP Mzwanele Manyi says the head of the executive must be subjected to the same scrutiny as his Cabinet Ministers.

“The issue here truly speaking which is also in the constitution is the executive authority and others are basically assisting him to execute that function. But, the President has not devolved all his powers to the various ministers. So this thing is very…as it currently stands.”
