LIBODE- A G4S security guard is set to face the music in court after a shocking alleged incident of hijacking and kidnapping.

The 40-year-old guard was nabbed by the Hawks on Saturday, following events near Ntlaza in Libode.

According to Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana of the Eastern Cape Hawks, “The guard and his colleague were on duty in a Toyota Etios when a Volkswagen Polo bumped into them. Things took a dangerous turn when a white Toyota Fortuner suddenly appeared, and armed suspects forced the guards to the ground, taking their firearms.”

After a heart-pounding ordeal, the guards were dropped off in the forest near Ngqeleni, while the suspects made off with the Fortuner.

Police later found the G4S vehicle in Pantu, with two people inside, but the suspects managed to escape.

In a thrilling pursuit, one suspect was nabbed while the other vanished into thin air. Firearms and ATM keys were stolen during the chaos but thankfully, the keys were later recovered.

Investigations have revealed that the arrested suspect is employed by G4S Cash Solutions in Gauteng.
