The disaster management teams has been activated by the Eastern Cape government in order to cater for affected areas in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
This comes after families in the metro have been displaced, one person died as a result of floods that hit the metro on Monday night.
MEC Zolile Williams, for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in the Eastern Cape, blamed the municipality for poor drainage system.
“In Formal townships, there are pools of water showing that the drainage systems have not been properly maintained and this is a normal function of the municipality” said MEC Williams
