GQEBERHA-The Eastern Cape High Court has delivered a verdict of 11 life sentences to Thembelani Andries(31) for committing an unspeakable act of violence and sexual assault against six young boys in 2015.
The horror took place on a seemingly ordinary day in May, when Andries lured the innocent children into bushes near the NU 9 Stadium in Motherwell, Gqeberha, under the false pretense of showing them springboks.
The heinous act left the boys traumatized and violated, with Andries using the threat of a stone to force the boys to perform oral sex on him and endure anal penetration.
The case was handled by State Advocate Ansiot Kimfley, who argued that the sentence should reflect the brutal nature of the crime, the vulnerability of the young victims and the long-term emotional and psychological effects of the assault. The court agreed, delivering a harsh punishment that ensures justice for the victims.
The sentencing was welcomed by Barry Madolo, Director of Public Prosecutions in the Eastern Cape, who expressed satisfaction at the outcome. “This sentence is a victory for justice and a significant step in ensuring that individuals who commit such grievous crimes, more particularly against children, are held accountable for their actions,” he said.
