The March and March Movement takes its demonstrations to the streets of Johannesburg.
That’s after they brought business to a standstill in central Pretoria on Tuesday.
The demonstration is part of a widening campaign demanding the immediate removal of undocumented foreign nationals from South Africa.
Led by founder Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, March and March — backed by civil society organisations and some political parties — has moved its clean-up operations from Durban to Gauteng.
The movement marched through the streets of Pretoria to voice their concerns about undocumented foreign nationals in the country and soaring unemployment.
Law enforcement authorities kept a firm grip on the march to prevent violence from erupting.
The movement delivered a memorandum of demands at the official seat of government.
Officials say government is committed to addressing the concerns raised by the movement.
The movement says it has exhausted all other channels and now demands the highest level of intervention.
