Marumo Gallants rope in Jamil Benouahi as new head coach

Lafitte had initially been suspended by the club following a string of poor results that saw them go 12 matches without a win in all competitions.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa have moved swiftly to rope in Benouahi, who holds a UEFA Pro Licence, and “brings valuable international experience having coached across North and Sub-Saharan Africa as well as the Gulf region.”In a statement, Gallants further confirmed that Julien Outrebon and Trevor Mathiane will continue as assistant coaches to assist Benouahi’s transition to the Premier Soccer League.

“The Club is confident that Benouahi’s expertise, leadership, and fresh perspective wil contribute positively to the team’s performance as Marumo Gallants continues its campaign for the remainder of the season,” read the club’s statement.

“He will be supported by the Club’s assistant coaches, Julien Outrebon and Trevor Mathiane, along with the technical team, to ensure continuity and stability within the squad during this transition period.”

The Bloemfontein-based outfit are currently 14th on the Betway Premiership table, level on 18 points with 15th-placed Orbit College and just four points ahead of bottom side Magesi FC, after 22 matches played.

The former AS FAR assistant coach will have his work cut out in the remaining eight matches of the season, beginning with a visit to Dikwena Tsa Meetse next week
