TT Mbha and daughters launch menstrual health book to empower young girls and end period stigma

Conversations about growing up, puberty and menstruation are often hushed, leaving many young girls feeling uncertain and alone.

South African entrepreneur and media personality TT Mbha (born Thato Mbha) believes that these discussions should be open, honest and empowering.

Together with his daughters, Thato Junior (TJ) Mbha and Boitumelo (Tumi) Mbha, he is launching a collaborative book, “My PMS Diary”, designed to give girls a safe space to understand their changing bodies and emotions.“This is not just a book, but a dad-daughter collaboration with purpose, inspired by real-life conversations about growing up, body changes, confidence and the unspoken questions that many girls are afraid to ask,” TT shared on social media.

“‘My PMS Diary’ is a safe space where girls can proudly and unashamedly learn about puberty and menstruation, journal their journey, reflect on their emotions and mental health, build confidence that they truly matter and are supported, and feel seen, heard and loved.”

“This one is for every girl navigating, ‘What is happening to me?’ and for every parent who wants to show up with courage and care. We’re changing the narrative, one girlchild at a time,” he added. The book aims to normalise topics that are often considered taboo, encouraging young girls to embrace their experiences without shame.

By combining personal reflections, journaling exercises and educational content, it creates a guide that is both informative and personal.

TT emphasised that the goal is to empower girls to speak openly about their bodies and mental health while giving parents tools to support them confidently. The official launch of “My PMS Diary” is set for March 28 at Exclusive Books in Rosebank, where readers will have the chance to meet TT and his daughters.

The book is positioned as a resource for families, schools and anyone invested in nurturing a girl’s understanding of herself.
