Convicted serial rapist, murderer and prison escapee Thabo Bester is fighting his transfer to a super maximum prison.
The Correctional Services Department says Bester’s move to eBongweni Super-Maximum Correctional Centre is because of security concerns.
Correctional Services National Commissioner Makgothi Thobakgale said the transfers of Bester and Vusumuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala were necessary to safeguard both inmates and prevent security risks.Bester’s lawyers want an interdict blocking the transfer until they can make representations and get written reasons for the move.
Bester is also demanding to be placed at a correctional facility within Gauteng, even if it’s not Kgosi Mamapuru II, from where was removed.
